Mariah Robertson is a conceptual artist working with photographic media to create abstract art that investigates ideas of time and reality.

The works push the boundaries on every facet of traditional photography by diverging from recognizable representation, deviating from a standard chemical process, and by allowing materials to become a dynamic participant in the work rather than used as a strict expression of the maker.

Mariah's work challenges the use of rigid systems driven by the human instinct to control, and suggests that irregularities, and unintentional outcomes are sometimes more beautiful than anything the maker could have planned for.  Ultimately, the work provides a model for constructive reframing, and a path towards expanded thinking.
